It’s Barbeque Time!

This Sunday night starting at 6:00 pm, we are hosting one of the church’s Summer Backyard Barbeque!  Yes, you are invited.  I’m also inviting my neighbors on all sides.  I want to really begin to reach out to others and show the love of Christ.  I just realized that I didn’t invite anyone from work, and that makes me sad.  I think I’m going to call a couple of them tomorrow and invite them even though its a little late now.  Maybe they will come.

Stephanie and I have a lot of work to do.  We live like slobs (I know, we should start working on that, but one thing at a time -see My Weightloss-, OK?).  The house needs to be cleaned up, the weeds in both yards need to be pulled, the patio needs to be cleaned up, the pool needs to be cleaned out, etc., etc., etc…  Anyway, I’m hoping we can get it done quickly because I want to spend part of the day enjoying the day.

The Ride Goes On…

I started the offical ‘Sackrider Slimdown’ on Wednesday and one of my goals was to put 100 miles on my bike by next Wednesday.  Well, I did not think that all the way through. :)

Celebrating Our Independence…

Independence Day

Fourth of July is here again, and we take a day to celebrate our nation’s birth.  As I consider our Nation’s ‘Independence’, I find myself focused on our individual struggles for independence.  My pastor ministered this Sunday about community in our churches, and about reconnecting.  But in America, we don’t want to reconnect; we want to be self-sufficient. We do not want to ‘need’ anyone.  When we are young, we want to be older so we can do things for ourselves, and when we grow old, we do not want to be a ‘burden’ on anyone.  We want to be independent.  It has been said that no man is an island, but if we could find a way, we would change that in America…
